"When our son was enrolled in the school, Walker embraced our whole family. They welcomed us into a wonderful and supportive community and gave our family the hope we had lost - with four little words: We're here to help."

Team McKayMore than 100 golfers spent a beautiful fall afternoon at Weston Golf Club on Monday, October 6th for the 19th annual Walker Fore the Children Golf Tournament. For the second year in a row, the award for first place low net score went to Team McKay, represented by team members Paul Robey, Tom Jacob, Michael McKay, and Kurt Muller.

2008 Lives in Bloom Gala

Thank you to everyone who made this event a spectacular success!

Gala co-chairs Deidre Lockhart, Kimberly Hatfield, and Tara Sherman with host Billy CostaNearly 400 guests filled the main ballroom at the Fairmont Copley Plaza on Saturday, May 3rd to honor Jack and Marci Williams of Wednesday’s Child at the annual Walker Lives in Bloom Gala .

The event raised an unprecedented $328,000 to support the Walker programs and services provided each year to struggling children, adolescents and families.

Jack and Marci WilliamsWalker executive director Rick Small presented the 3rd annual Walker Distinguished Community Leadership Award to Jack and Marci Williams, along with a hand-made book about the importance of family, created by the students at the Walker School.

The Williams' were also presented with the gift of an engraved rocking chair, with Dr. Small offering the hope "that this chair finds a place in your home where your family gathers and that it reminds you of the impact you have made at Walker, and the impact you've made in the lives of so many children and families. You are truly a remarkable couple.”

Paul and Cheryl HamelCheryl Hamel, the mother of a former Walker student, shared her family’s powerful story of hope, saying “I want to let people know that there is help when your child is suffering and your lives are out of control."

"After years of struggling and exhaustive searching it would have been easy to give up, but, as Walker has shown us, there is hope.  In just over a year they were able to save a struggling life and create a successful child and family. You can be a hero to a child in need. You can change the world, one child at a time.”
